Meet Your Clinical Hypnotherapist

Hello! I am Jennifer, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who helps adults through hypnotherapy overcome the complex & often heavy mental-emotional frameworks that leave us frustrated, dissatisfied, & overburdened in our day-to-day experience.

Our thoughts & feelings are informative of past & present needs & wounds. Hypnotherapy helps us get to the subconscious root of intrusive thoughts & feelings.

Heart-Centered

Hypnotherapy Process

1

You are guided into trance state through hypnotic suggestion which, experientially, simply is guided meditation or visualization.

Once in trance, you are able to work collaboratively with both your subconscious & conscious minds.

INDUCTION

2

You call in spiritual resources for guidance & healing, including your Wise Adult & your Spiritual Connection.

Your Wise Adult is a version of you who has made wise decisions for you in the past. Your Spiritual Connection is your unique interpretation of a benevolent force.

RESOURCING

3

You are guided through Age Regression(s) where you connect your current concern with (up to two) past experiences from earlier in your life from which your current concern originates.

AGE REGRESSION

4

CORRECTIVE EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE

You are then therapeutically guided, as you consciously return to & re-experience these Age Regressions, to express your past emotional wounds in a healthy manner, releasing them from your subconscious.

5

SUBCONSCIOUS REPROGRAMMING

You are then guided to re-process your past experiences with new meaning that will inform your current beliefs & behaviors, offering the possibility of a richer future less impeded by your presenting concern.

6

“WAKING UP”

Once the healing work is complete for the session, you are guided by hypnotic suggestion back to a more wakeful state, now able to integrate and practice your new belief systems and behaviors.

What makes hypnotherapy VS stage hypnosis different?

Hypnotherapy FAQ

1

Stage hypnosis is for entertainment — for evoking reactions in an audience. Hypnotherapy is therapeutic hypnosis, for facilitating personal change in a safe & respectful setting & manner.

How does hypnosis/hypnotherapy work?

2

You are guided into hypnotic trance by scripted prompts to breathe, relax, & visualize. While in trance your conscious mind & subconscious can connect more seamlessly to collaborate through the hypnotherapy process towards your therapy goals. Since the subconscious mind is extremely suggestible & is bombarded through our lives with constant stimuli from our environments that can shape patterns in perception, belief, behavior, relationship, etc., hypnotherapy can be a powerful healing modality for concerns rooted in our subconscious.

What does the research say about hypnosis?

3

The fields of medicine, psychology, & dentistry have recognized hypnosis as a legitimate, evidence-based intervention.

Hypnotherapy has been shown in research to be effective in treating stress & anxiety disorders, trauma/dissociation (including from sexual abuse & war), mood-related (including depressive) arousal & behaviors, addictive behaviors (like substance use or gambling), codependency in relationships, eating disorders, irritating &/or self-destructive habits, even physical pain, chronic illness, & the birthing process* (*for women), especially when combined with other treatment methods, for children through adults.

What are the risks & benefits to hypnosis?

4

Hypnotherapy involves revisiting emotional wounds stored in subconscious memory, with the guidance of your facilitator. Possible, infrequent side effects of hypnotherapy*: headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia, restlessness, depersonalization, derealization, dizziness, confusion, & intrusive imagery. *These risks are minimal with a competent facilitator & when the client understands they are in control & can communicate their inner experience with their facilitator.

The benefits are that these emotional wounds are more deeply released from the subconscious body, so that they no longer weigh on & stumble the conscious mind in the client’s day-to-day behaviors & choices. Clients often discover that each hypnotherapy session brings a deeper layer of healing through discovery of the previously repressed childhood and past life material to be resolved. As a result, compared to traditional “talk” therapy approaches, there is notable healing work that can be accomplished with hypnotherapy in a shorter time. It may take a single hypnotherapy session, or a number of hypnotherapy sessions, to release subconscious wounds, depending on the nature of your presenting concern & its origins.

What if I’m very analytical, & struggle with guided meditations/imagery?

5

A mind that can concentrate & notice patterns, & is self-aware, contributes well to the hypnotherapy process. There may just need be an openness & adjustment in your mental framework from rational, linear, tangible processes to the circular, subconscious hypnotherapy process.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Experiences vary, but are often familiar & ordinary to lived experience. Some feel deeply relaxed & restful, sometimes physically heavy, while others feel lighter & calm. You may find yourself become inwardly focused or more absorbed in what is happening. Some physiological signs of hypnotic trance are slowed & deepened breathing, sighs/yawns, increased blinking, & changes in body temperature or sense of time.

6

Can I get stuck in hypnosis? What if we disconnect in the middle of hypnosis?

7

Absolutely not. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that can occur seamlessly through the course of a day. If we disconnect during hypnosis, you will find that you can return naturally to ordinary alertness & then you can get back in touch with me by reconnecting to our virtual meeting room or by phone call.

What if I don’t want to do something in the session?

8

Then you do not have to. All hypnotic suggestions I pose to you in the hypnotherapy process are invitations that you can accept or decline, that are intended to target your concern. You always have autonomy & authority to speak, move, open your eyes, change position, ask a question, clarify a suggestion, or say no at any time.

Will I remember the session?

Usually, yes. You are conscious through the process & can remember most, if not all, of your session as you would any other therapy session or important conversation. While you may not consciously recall every word, your subconscious was an active recipient of the hypnotherapy treatment. As such, you can experience a lightness of ease from tension following each hypnotherapy treatment session.

9

Why do you structure hypnotherapy between a preparatory & integration phase?

10

I believe that having a touch-point before & after the heart-centered hypnotherapy intervention promotes your therapeutic benefit by offering you the time & space to be as fully receptive to the intervention on both conscious & subconscious levels.

Can I have hypnotherapy & mental health therapy at the same time?

11

It is acceptable to be receiving mental health care & seek hypnotherapy as an adjunct treatment intervention in the course of your healing journey. Your mental health treatment will have to conclude while your treatment with hypnotherapy takes place, & then can continue following the termination of hypnotherapy.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the concern you are bringing into therapy & how layered that concern is embedded in subconscious memory. Some concerns can shift quickly, with a single session. More complex issues, long-standing patterns, may benefit from multiple treatment sessions.
