Core Philosophies
I apply these clinical principles & therapy orientations to your treatment every session. They are the foundation of how I approach you each session.

-
Through therapy, I will provide you with an experientially loving, therapeutic relationship container by approaching you with genuineness (transparent realness), unconditional positive regard (nonjudgment), & empathic understanding (deep, active listening).
Why? As a person-centered therapist, I believe each person has an innate inclination to develop creatively to their fullest potential when in an atmosphere of meaningful trust & care.
-
Through therapy, I will learn & reinforce your potential & strengths, establishing them as your solid foundation & resource through your healing journey & next chapters of life.
Why? As a strengths-based therapist, I believe each person possesses unique & natural strengths – capacities, characteristics, & skills – that, when nurtured & applied in the context of mental health treatment, allow you to heal with greater ease & empowerment through the process.
-
Through therapy, I will both grow an understanding of & respond respectfully to your unique cultural background in how you relate to me through, & wish to define, the course of your mental health treatment.
Why? As a multi-cultural therapist, I recognize the natural influence of unique cultural heritage and broader societal context on each person’s identity, values, perspective, relationships, lived experience, as well as their inner and external resources.
-
Through therapy, we will nurture safety & capacity together until we can move closer towards what hurts, then we witness your past pains & address your ongoing needs.
Why? As a trauma-informed therapist, I err on the side of presuming that trauma is an experience that each person has – somewhere, somehow – in their history; & I believe that trauma leaves a lingering imprint in one’s subconscious emotional & physical patterns.
It is my duty, through the course of treatment, to empower you with a therapy space of physical & emotional safety, & a therapeutic relationship of trust & shared power, where you grow – at your own pace – willing & able to choose to address the unique trauma(s) in your history that contribute(s) to Your presenting concerns.
It is always your choice whether & how much we focus on your trauma history throughout the course of your mental health treatment.
-
Through therapy, we will practice in-the-moment observing the thoughts, feelings, & impulses that arise in your mind & body to offer you the inner spaciousness to be empowered to change & grow in the desired course of your healing journey.
Why? As a mindfulness therapist, I believe that humans are beings who have minds & physical-emotional bodies, & it is fully presencing our minds & bodies that we can know our moment-to-moment needs & begin a rich healing practice.
-
As a solution-focused therapist, I believe that concerns can be improved by focusing on possible solutions towards a clear, desired progression.
Why? Through therapy, solutions can be practical, mental, behavioral, emotional, & can involve overlapping efforts at once. Together, we will explore what combination of choices & patterns to focus on & improve the concern(s) you bring to session.
-
As a transformational therapist, I believe a holistic treatment approach – that addresses & harmonizes your whole being of mind, body, & spirit – enhances your naturally unfolding healing & self-actualization process with deep, lasting growth.
Through therapy, in addition to the mind & body, I prefer to also attune to & address your spirit throughout Your mental health treatment by both focusing on your creative self-expression & your sense of meaning & hope in life, & by integrating visual interventions like guided imagery and hypnotherapy.
“It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
– Ursula K. Le Guin, American Author
Targeted Philosophies
These therapy orientations & branches of psychology further reflect my clinical perspective, but their treatment offerings may not always be relevant to your unique situation & treatment process each session. I will draw upon these philosophies — their perspectives & interventions — from my treatment toolbox when I believe you may benefit from us exploring them.

-
Through therapy, we will reflectively examine your belief system – your beliefs about yourself, about others & the world, about the future – & how your thought patterns shape your emotional experiences & behavioral patterns.
Why? As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I believe that thoughts, feelings, & behaviors are inextricably intertwined in shaping a person, & their presenting mental health concerns.
-
Through therapy, I will assist you in re-authoring your life story into one of empowerment & overcoming by focusing on your strengths, learnings, & growth journey over your insecure faults, guilty mistakes, & shameful failures.
Why? As a narrative therapist, I believe each person defines themselves & makes meaning out of their lives in the form of a story, and that a person comes to therapy when their life story is saturated with problems or concerns.
-
As an internal family systems therapist, I believe each person has multiple parts to their personality, each with distinct roles that intricately relate to one another, with a core Self — the leader of your internal family of personality parts.
Through therapy, we will get in touch with the wisdom of your core Self by identifying & improving the clarity & roles Your inner parts have in relationship so that they work collaboratively towards Your desired goals, rather than having you stumbling over your presenting concerns.
-
As a somatic therapist, I understand that mental & emotional concerns live (or occur) in the physical body (&, so, can contribute to physical conditions), meaning that harmonizing the relationship between mind & body improves overall wellbeing.
Through therapy, I prefer to have you intuitively attune to & address your body throughout your mental health treatment by integrating somatic interventions – like mindfulness, interoception, breathwork, meditation, & movement practices.
-
As an energy therapist, I believe each person possesses a creative life force energy. The body therefore possesses energy systems, such as meridians & chakras, whose free-flowing alignment promotes physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual wellbeing.
Through therapy, we can address mental-emotional concerns via the body’s energy centers with additional interventions like tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) with breathwork & guided meditation/imagery.
-
As an expressive art therapist, I believe both that the creative process is transformative and healing, & that each person is born with an innate creative capacity that can be nurtured. Therefore, each person has some innate desire to express themself in some creative form, whether through writing/journaling, movement, art, sound/music, or improvisational practice.
Through therapy, we will explore what expressive art practices can complement & deepen your transformative healing journey in between sessions.
Ready to Heal?
Through therapy, my integrative treatment philosophy heals you holistically — fosters awareness & ease in your mind, body, & spirit.
Together, we will always view your treatment concern & process through a holistic lens — that you have relationships with & between your mind, body, & spirit to steadily nurture through life — in order for you to experience well-being & fulfillment.

-
Through therapy, we will witness, nurture, & heal your:
thought patterns,
belief systems → behavior patterns,
sense of self
personality, character, esteem
in relationship
→ the GOAL = MENTAL CLARITY:
You are not lost, as your automatic thoughts & perceptions.
You actively witness & navigate your thought patterns moment-to-moment with ease.
Your belief systems reflect your own desired values & guide your intentional choices.
You are clear, grounded, & secure in who you are & what you can offer.
-
Through therapy, we will:
recognize & witness your emotional responses to daily life,
nurture & heal your emotional coping (holding & digestion) capacity.
→ the GOAL = EMOTIONAL FLUIDITY:
You are not your emotions. They do not overwhelm or frighten you, taking over your actions. You know your emotions just need to be truly felt & expressed.
You experience & express your emotions with steady humility, ongoing clarity, & deep respect. You know emotions, like sensations, are your body’s intelligent communication system messages.
You recognize & honor the limits of your emotional holding capacity.
You know how & with who your coping capacity opens & expands.
You take the time & space you need to allow your emotional experiences to flow & release - digest - fully from your body.
-
Through therapy, we will consider how you nurture & heal your physical health condition(s) with:
accessing physical health care resources,
& daily self-care practices,
nutrition,
physical activity,
& rest.
→ the GOAL = PHYSICAL CAPACITY:
You listen & respond to the intuitive sensations your body uses to communicate what it needs.
You choose physical health habits that empower & sustain you through each day.
You experience your physical body as capable of meeting the physical demands of your daily life.
-
Through therapy, we will nurture your:
creative life force energy —
your unique expression of life,
& what your life offers to others in the world,
sense of hope & faith in possibilities for yourself & the world.
→ the GOAL = SPIRITUAL ALIGNMENT:
You are actively creating your desired, meaningful life.
You channel your creative life force energy into honest expressions of self — possibly through:
what you say & wear,
where & how you belong, caring for who & what you love,
playing with arts (writing, music, dancing, crafting, etc.)
developing passions (in activities, sports, practices, skills, fields of expertise, etc.),
contributing to the world — a skill, a service, a product, a role, an impact, an experience
You have a clear sense of purpose that drives you through & is derived from your daily life.
You can see & put trust in a hopeful future for yourself & others. (If you can heal, so can the world.)
You believe in benevolence & connection as natural to a healthy humanity & world.
Through therapy, I aim for our conversations to inspire:
-
To me, healing is the steady & evolving SELF-LOVE we embed into:
our mental patterns,
our self-care & physical health practices,
& our relationships with others & the world.
Together, we’ll explore where & how you can soften & deepen in LOVE for your mind, body, & spirit in your daily life.
-
To me, healing is recognizing our EVOLUTION. We literally move through life each day gradually gathering:
experience,
knowledge,
skills,
& character.
Together, we’ll share in regular reflection on, goal-directed dialogue about, & recognition of your CHANGES thru therapy & life.
-
It is healing to CREATE. And, to me, to create is: to express ourselves & to expand into possibility.
We each need to share who we genuinely are & feel truly seen — thru our words, deeds, & creations.
And we each also need to DREAM with hopeful action.
Together, we will IMAGINE your desired future & version of self, & take steps towards bringing that vision to life in present-day reality.
